Our Story — Wayne Harris, Inventor of the Term-LAB SPL Meter | Term-PRO | WHE Inc.
High performance audio is not just our business. It’s in our DNA. At Wayne Harris Enterprises (WHE Inc.), we believe that high-performance audio shouldn't be left to guesswork. For over three decades, we have been the driving force behind the technology, software, and competitive platforms that define the global mobile audio industry.
Our mission is simple: to provide mobile audio professionals, acoustic engineers, and competitors with the absolute most accurate, reliable, and advanced tools on the market. We don't just participate in the 12-volt industry; we engineer the standard by which it is measured.
The WHE Inc. Ecosystem
We manufacture and manage a fully integrated ecosystem designed to take audio systems from the initial blueprint to the world record books:
- Term-LAB Magnum SPL Meter: The ultimate authority in SPL measurement. Digital sensor technology measures extreme Sound Pressure Levels with 0.1dB accuracy — no fragile microphones.
- Term-PRO Enclosure Design Software: The industry's premier design tool for designing low frequency loudspeaker enclosures.
- dB Drag Racing Association (dBDRA): The premier global sound-off organization for competitive SPL events.
The Global Standard of Precision
When accuracy is the only option, the world turns to Term-LAB. Our Term-LAB technology is the official and exclusive measurement system utilized by every major auto sound competition organization, including the dBDRA, IASCA, MECA, USACI, EMMA, Bass Wars, NSPL, MWSPL and many more! Because our sensor technology is virtually indestructible and flawlessly accurate, Term-LAB systems have been utilized by NASA and the United States Military for critical acoustic testing.
Our Heritage: Built by a Pioneer

WHE Inc. is rooted in a pure, lifelong passion for audio engineering. The company was founded by industry pioneer Wayne Harris, an electrical engineer who revolutionized mobile audio in the 1980s with his legendary, award-winning hearse, "The Terminator."
Wayne recognized a critical gap in how the industry designed and tested sound systems and set out to fix it. In 1989 he developed the very first iteration of Term-PRO software, ending the era of guesswork box building and replacing it with precision engineering.
In 1998, he launched the dB Drag Racing Association (dBDRA) car stereo competition organization. Since then, the dBDRA has conducted over 25,000 events in over 40 countries worldwide. That very same year, he introduced the original Term-LAB — the first SPL measurement system designed specifically for competitive car audio. It used traditional microphones, which worked well until car audio competition systems grew so loud that the extreme SPL levels were literally destroying the microphones. Conventional measurement technology had met its limit.
Wayne went back to the lab. In 2003 he invented an entirely new sensor technology purpose-built to withstand and accurately measure extreme high-SPL environments — levels that no microphone could survive. This became the Term-LAB, and the breakthrough earned a CES Design and Innovation Award that permanently changed the way high-SPL acoustic measurement is performed worldwide. In 2015 Wayne took the platform further by introducing the Term-LAB Magnum, a fully digital system that delivers the accuracy, reliability, and advanced measurement capabilities that competitors, retailers, and sound-off organizations worldwide rely on today.
Today, that same relentless pursuit of innovation drives everything we do at WHE Inc. Whether you are a weekend enthusiast designing your first enclosure, a shop owner tuning a client's vehicle, or a world champion chasing a new world record, we provide the science to prove your performance.
